A Complete City
I could not get the General Plan Summary to load, so I read some parts of the full document, so I may have missed something. I can't find anything negative to say about it! But I urge Mesa to immediately stop approving any development plans that would not conform with the ideas of the Plan. No more strip malls set away from the street with fast-food "pads" along the street. No logo buildings. No apartment complexes with surface parking; all parking should be underground or under the units and the whole thing should look like a neighborhood indistinguishable from its surroundings, not a "complex". Also, we need specific plans on how to retrofit existing areas to the standards outlined in the Plan.
I would like new (and even some retrofitted) neighborhoods in Mesa to look like the attached image, which is centered on a pedestrian-friendly, mixed use complex of shops, apartments, and a farmer's market. Parking is dispersed, and much of it is underground.
